Family Companies rise with the larks to exchange business knowledge
March 7th 2008
Two local family companies have been teaching each other about their respective businesses as a forerunner to a new delivery service they are launching together this month.
Dairy delivery service Kirby and West, of Richard III Road, Leicester, and specialist frozen food producer Kitchenmonkey.co.uk, of Thurmaston, are pooling their resources to educate each of their staff about how the other operates. Staff from Kitchenmonkey.co.uk will be cooking up some special breakfasts for Kirby and West's delivery drivers at the start of their rounds and Kirby and West Director Graham Smith has been getting first-hand experience in the Kitchenmonkey.co.uk factory. Meanwhile Kitchenmonkey.co.uk's new marketing manager Jacqui Bailey has in turn been seeing how the roundsmen operate - by getting up at 4am and joining them on their rounds!
The two firms, who are launching a special frozen foods delivery service to households all over the county, believe staff understanding of how each firm operates is vital to the success of their future business venture.
"On the face of it, it may appear very simple but there's far more that goes on behind the scenes than people realise," said Graham Smith, Director, Kirby and West. "Over the past 12 months our own firm has undergone a number of changes. We've widened our service and products to respond to changing trends and customer feedback, and looked at a number of environmental issues, and we want to ensure any future initiatives reflect this."
Jacqui Bailey agreed: "Having a good understanding of our respective business policies will help to cement our business relationship for the future by ensuring that we are working towards the same goals - not just in terms of business production, but also in terms of customer care and environmental protection.
